We fell in love with crochet years ago, and it wasn’t long before a little amigurumi stole our hearts. Since then, we’ve spent nearly 15 years as part of this incredible community—watching how many crocheters started from scratch and ended up becoming designers with devoted followings.

That’s how the Amigurumi Festival was born: from a desire to give visibility to all of these designers—whether they were just getting started or already had an established path. We wanted to create a space where they could meet, share their creations, and connect with other communities.

And voilà. What began as a simple idea has turned into a thriving project with seven editions since its launch in 2020. Along the way, we’ve welcomed designers from all corners of the world—from Spain and Argentina to South Korea.

The concept is simple yet full of heart: a gathering of 25-30 designers around a common theme. Over time, we’ve added new elements to enrich each edition. In our Summer 2023 Festival, for example, we introduced a digital storybook that transformed the amigurumis into fairytale characters. The ebook idea has stayed with us ever since, adding an extra layer of magic.

We’ve also had the wonderful collaboration of Mel from Gallimelmas e Imaginancias, who helps organize the festival and illustrated the posters for two editions.

A Look Back at Our Editions

Let’s take a journey through the Amigurumi Festival editions—from the most recent to the very first, where it all began.

Christmas 2024: A Crocheted Christmas Tale

In 2024, we gave a crochet twist to a timeless classic: A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. In our version, the main character is the owner of a yarn shop who hates Christmas. But after being visited by three very special wizards, she discovers that her store can become the true spirit of the season.

Summer 2024: The Pet Parade

A true celebration of furry (and not-so-furry) friends! Each designer submitted a duo: a main character and their inseparable animal companion. From household pets to wild creatures like bears, pandas, and giraffes, this edition was an explosion of cuteness.

Christmas 2023: A Crochet Advent Calendar

Who doesn’t love an advent calendar? In this edition, we turned the classic countdown into a crocheted one: 25 patterns, each inspired by the holiday traditions of our international designers. Behind every window was not chocolate, but an adorable amigurumi! We also included a digital guide with festive recipes and fun holiday facts.

Summer 2023: Fairytales and Legends

This magical edition was full of fairytale characters: witches, princesses, fairies, dragons, unicorns… All came together on Amigurumi Island for an unforgettable adventure. It all began with a lost little wolf—and our heroine had to travel across the island meeting every character in her quest to find

Summer 2022: The Seasons in Yarn

Summer 2020: Where It All Began

The first edition that started it all. A heartfelt tribute to the animal kingdom: mammals, reptiles, insects—all gathered in a delightful collection that marked the beginning of a tradition that continues to grow with every stitch.
